WhaleSync archived its Attio connector and stopped taking new connections. Here’s what that means if you’re choosing today — and what WhaleSync still does better than we do.

Pick SheetSync if

You’re setting up an Attio–Sheets connection today, not maintaining an old one.
You need Attio custom objects, lists, or list-entry attributes.
You’d rather have an interface built for these two products than a general connector platform.

You want field-level two-way behavior with a conflict rule you can predict.

Pick WhaleSync if

You already have a WhaleSync Attio connection that works. Don’t move for the sake of it.
You need Google Sheets synced against several non-Attio databases or CMS tools too.
Live updates, table filters, selective row sync, or their Issues workflow is a must-have.
Procurement needs SOC 2 Type II, SSO, or a security assessment. We don’t have those.

The thing that decides it: WhaleSync archived Attio

WhaleSync’s Attio page sits under Previous Connectors. It says the connector is no longer offered, that existing syncs will keep working, and that future improvements and support will be limited.

That reframes the whole comparison. This isn’t a feature bake-off between two products chasing the same customer — one of them is actively built around Attio and Sheets, and the other stopped taking new Attio work.

If your WhaleSync connection is healthy, archived status on its own isn’t a reason to rip it out.
But don’t build something new on a connector the vendor says it no longer offers.
If you need a new connection, test us with a copied tab and real records before you commit.

Where we go deeper on Attio

The archived WhaleSync docs list People, Companies, and Deals as supported, Workspace Members as one-way, and custom objects and lists as not supported. SheetSync loads the objects available in your workspace, takes an Attio list as a source, and maps parent-record and list-entry attributes side by side.

We can also expand a record relationship and pull the related object’s fields into the same row — People plus Company Name and Company Domain being the usual one.

Where WhaleSync is genuinely better

WhaleSync is a much bigger product. Live updates, filters, historical sync, selective row-level sync, an Issues page, smart API-limit handling, and connectors across spreadsheets, databases, and CMS tools.

They also advertise SOC 2 Type II, GDPR support, SSO, security assessments, and enterprise support. We have none of that, and we’re not going to imply otherwise.

Moving an existing sync without breaking it

Don’t pause the old connection until you’ve written down its tables, field mappings, filters, record IDs, and conflict behavior. Build the SheetSync version against a copied tab, run a limited comparison, and check creates, updates, list fields, linked fields, blanks, and duplicates.

And don’t run both products two-way against the same live rows during the switch. Two sync engines will read each other’s writes as new changes, and you’ll get loops or overwrites.

Record every field mapping before you touch anything.
Pick a stable match key before the first run.
Test one direction first if the data matters.
Keep the old connection paused until the new run totals and samples check out.

Questions people ask us

Does WhaleSync still support Attio?

Their docs say existing Attio syncs will keep running, but the connector is archived, no longer offered, and will get limited improvements and support.

Is SheetSync real-time?

No. We run on a schedule, plus on demand whenever you hit the button. WhaleSync markets live updates, and for their non-archived connectors that’s a real advantage.

Does SheetSync support Attio lists?

Yes. A list can be the source, and you can map parent-record fields alongside attributes stored on the list entry.

Should I rip out my working WhaleSync Attio sync?

Not on principle. If it’s stable and does what you need, document it and keep an eye on the support risk. Move when you need current Attio features, a new connection, or a product that’s still being built.
