Getting started

What SheetSync does, what to have ready before you start, and how to pick a first sync that can’t hurt anything.

What it does

SheetSync keeps one Attio source and one Google Sheets tab in step. The Attio side can be an object — People, Companies, Deals, one of your custom objects — or a specific Attio list.

A sync remembers the Attio source, the spreadsheet and tab, the direction, and your field mappings. From the dashboard you can run it now, leave it on a schedule, pause it, edit it, or delete it.

  • Push Attio records into a sheet for reporting or sharing.
  • Push a sheet into Attio to create or update records in bulk.
  • Run it both ways and keep edits from either side.
  • Map standard fields, custom attributes, list attributes, and fields from one linked Attio object.
  • Preview a sample before you commit, and see exactly which rows had trouble after a run.

Four things to sort out first

  1. 01

    Decide what data you need

A whole Attio object, or only the entries on one list?

  2. 02

    Get the sheet tab ready

Row 1 holds your column names, and they should be unique. If row 1 is empty, SheetSync can put starter headers there for you.

  3. 03

    Decide who edits where

This is what picks your direction: Attio, the sheet, or both.

  4. 04

Find a value that won’t change

Email, domain, something unique. It’s how a row finds the right Attio record instead of creating a duplicate.

Start small

Point your first sync at a test tab with only the fields you actually need. Confirm it does what you expect, then add the rest.

Pick a first sync

A live report

Direction
Attio → Sheet
For example
A forecast tab that updates itself from Attio Deals.

Bulk CRM updates

Direction
Sheet → Attio
For example
Clean up contact details in a sheet, then push them to Attio.

Both teams editing

Direction
Bidirectional
For example
Sales lives in Attio, ops maintains enrichment in Sheets.

One pipeline only

Direction
Attio list
For example
Just the companies on your Fundraising Pipeline list.

After you hit create

SheetSync queues the first run and drops you back on the dashboard. Each sync shows whether it’s active, paused, running, succeeded, partly succeeded, or waiting on you.

Partly succeeded means most of it worked but some rows or records didn’t. Open the sync to see which ones, what was missing, and what to do about it.
